The Scottish Government has published a national Community Energy Policy Statement which (at the time of publishing) is open for public consultation. Community energy covers a spectrum of activity – from direct ownership to community benefits to creating local energy systems and changing the way energy is generated and used.
This policy statement highlights progress to date and sets out the various forms of support that are available now and that will be needed in future to facilitate community involvement, mitigate risks and effectively incentivise communities and developers alike.
The Scottish Government are (at the time of publishing) seeking responses from the general public to this document.
